BIO
Trained as a classical violinist, Cedar grew up playing fiddle music as well and has explored a variety of traditional styles including Irish, Quebecois, New England, and American Old-Time. With spirited, rhythmic playing and clear tone, he has become a renowned contra dance fiddler, and has toured across North America with Nor’easter, Maivish, Cloud Ten, and others. Along with dances, Cedar plays for weddings, parties, house concerts, and more, and can often be found at traditional Irish sessions near his home in southern Vermont.

THUNDERWING
Thunderwing is Cedar Stanistreet on fiddle, Benjamin Foss on fiddle, banjo, and guitar, and Amy Englesberg on piano and accordion. Together they draw upon their wide-ranging musical experiences to create their own kind of party within the New England contra dance tradition. Their electrifying energy will leave you soaring and stomping in delight!
SYCAMORE
Featuring Cedar Stanistreet (Nor’easter, Cloud Ten) on fiddle, Michael Sokolovsky (Uncle Farmer) on guitar, and Samuel Foucher (Spintuition) on accordion, Sycamore draws from a variety of styles to create a fun dance groove. From driving old-time reels to silky smooth waltzes, they have music for every occasion.
CEDAR and JAKE
Cedar and Jake met in 2022 at a local session, and discovered their shared affinity for Irish tunes. Cedar grew up listening to Irish music on the radio, and fell in love after hearing bands Dervish and Altan play live, later studying with Martin Hayes at fiddle camp. Jake became enamored with the music in his late teens, learning to play tunes on the flute, and drew much inspiration from summers at the Catskills Irish Arts Week in NY, gleaning from the likes of flute legends Jimmy Noonan, Mike Rafferty and Catherine Mcevoy among others. The two seasoned musicians and performers blend their unique voices on flute and fiddle to create a soulful, crisp sound.
